(a gift from my sister last $winter_holiday). Here are some in-progress pictures of the dress. I’ve progressed passed the obi and into the skirt. I’m about to place markers and start the increases. If I can ever remember to take the markers with me when I visit the Xixi, as that is when I get most of my knitting done. She’s just not that interested in Clinical Chemistry or Parasites.

In the meanwhile, I am unemployed and need money, so I’ve been doing CashCrate. Here is my shameless plug. A friend assures me that they actually do pay out. So, here’s hoping for a little pin money. And the image doesn’t seem to want to work, so here is my direct referral link. This is the last you will hear of it.

It was a very, very quick knit. The yarn was recovered from an Old Navy sweater, so the twist felt a bit off, and it was splitty as hell, but we made it through.

This pattern has a way of doing drop-stitches that I found easier than other methods I’ve (failed) attempted. Once I got the hang of it, I was able to get into my usual pattern of watching subtitled television while I knit.

My sister had a bebe. And I made things for her. And they were ready ON TIME. Shocked me too!

It started with a simple little dress. The Baby Ribbon Dress by Tami Olsen.

Only I screwed up and had a little hole in it that I didn’t notice until I was done. So I learned a little bit of crochet and made a flower to cover it.

Then I kind of got on a roll. And knit baby mittens and booties.

And there was a baby inside! Of course, she immediately outgrew all of it.

Feather Zag Scarf
Cast on 26 stitches.
R1-2: K
R3: K
R4: K4, P18, K4
R5: K4, K2TOG 3 times, (YO, K1) 6 times, K2TOG 3 times, K4
R6: K
R7-22: Repeat R3-6
R23-24: K
Cast off 25 stitches.
Turn the square 90 degrees. Using the single stitch left on the needle, pick up 25 stitches along the new edge.
Begin from Row 1.
Repeat until you think you have enough squares for a good scarf.

I haven’t mentioned needle size or gauge, because dude, scarf. Pick a needle size to match your gauge.

The Lux: Frogged and shelved until I finish this cardigan for my mother.

Tweed Cardigan: Cast on and working out nicely. I’ve figured out the PROPER way to KFB, thanks to the most awesome Stich ‘n Bitch, as recommended by the most AWESOME teacher at the Knit Nook.

Speaking of that awesome teacher, I’m about halfway through Saartje’s Bootees for my baby sister’s baby. She’s not due until Auguest, so I have a little bit of time to get this right. I’ve also discovered the joy of 100% Merino Superwash wool. It’s joyful to knit and I think I’ll attempt a hat to go with the booties.

Next week I’m starting a baby sweater class. I bought some denim yarn a few weeks ago, also from the Knit Nook, and I think I’ll use that.

Also, if anybody in my family is reading this, it’s NOT PINK. It’s red.

I may have a little bit of ADD.

Over the winter, a dear friend recommended I get Knitting Lingerie Style because I was looking into some pretty complex (in my amateur opinion) patterns. Thread weight! (Which I totally consider terrifying. Not as terrifying as steeking, but still.)

So from that book, I’m doing a skirt for a wedding, and the bra and panty set just for practice.

Not to mention the number of people expecting babies! THREE BABIES IN THE NEXT YEAR! I’m knitting bibs and booties out the wazoo. I actually signed up for some classes at the fabulous Knit Nook in the Louisville Highlands. My teacher has been an absolute doll. She was working on this divine little sweater called The Snow White. I’m also signed up for a baby sweater class as well.

Just how much yarn can I knit up for three babies and a wedding?

I completely frogged the manthong. I think it’s just too complicated for me right now, as parts of it require crochet and I just don’t want to learn it at the moment.

So I’m using that yarn to make Waffle Stitch Fingerless Gloves. I’ve finished one already and only made two accidental holes. After I do the second one up flat, I think I’m going to attempt knitting in the round. I picked up some cheap acrylic DPNs just for this purpose.

I’ve FINISHED my sister’s wash cloth and hand towel set! Now the little brat wants an afghan in the same yarn. I’ve grabbed another giant cone and slapped the wash cloth pattern onto size 10.5 needles. Cast on TWO HUNDRED stitches, man.

Becky’s scarf is coming along slowly, as it gets a bit tedious after a while. But it’s really looking quite nice. I just have to knit up 100 more rings! Ended up picking up 2 more skeins of the raw silk. Hopefully that will be enough, because it was on clearance the first time I bought it.

I won’t mention the 2-3 dish rags I knitted up just because we needed them. If it takes less than 4 hours to do, it doesn’t count, right?

Also, how awesome is this store? I took a friend’s step-child there on Sunday for a lesson. Idiot that I am, I left my netbook there. Didn’t even notice until I came in today. There it was, sitting with a post-it that had my name on it. Really, I’d probably forget clothes, like all those horror dreams, if I didn’t have to put on shoes to make it through my living room.

I’m thinking yellow.
